My Story By Farra Allen, LifeWorks School of Coaching Founder

I grew up in Kentucky, Northern Kentucky, across the river from Cincinnati, Midwestern culture.  Wanting to become a football Coach.  I was told I should be a doctor or a lawyer.

After graduating from law school I began to search for what “I” wanted to do; my passion.  Becoming first a massage therapist, teaching workshops, and then I founded The Atlanta School of Massage.

After training over 1500 students I realized that my real passion is empowering people to design their profession around their passion no matter what it may be.  This led me to University of West Georgia’s Humanistic Psychology and Counseling Graduate School.  Once completing this I realized I did not want to practice psychotherapy, rather I wanted to be a “Coach”.

Once again shortly after coaching began teaching (both of my parents were teachers and my Dad was a coach).  It took me 12 years to create this body of work—LifeWorks, after all, I, being the laboratory, had to first get my life to work.  This took a while.  Then design a system to allow others to have their lives work, once again no small task.

I started my first class in November of 2006.  We started with 10 and graduated 8 students.  The class of 2007/8 has as many as 18 students at one time and 13 graduated.  This last class 2008/2009 we started and finished with 10 students.

This is my dream, my vision, my passion.  To empower others to be all of who they are, to live as their authentic Self (unencumbered by their past), and to assist people to truly have their lives work (on all cylinders).  More than this, I have attracted groups of likeminded people who share this vision.  A vision of people being supported, supporting others, forming community and creating a new way of life and right living which will carry us into 2012 and beyond.

Yes, I don’t really work a day in my life, my work is my passion; assisting people in their journey of Self Transformation.  This isn’t work; it’s my mission of love.  I am a Coach, a LifeWorks Coach.

Our unique psychological approach delves into “family of origin” issues thus getting at what tends to stop us enabling you and your clients to go beyond where you and they are.

This re-identification of the Self takes place in you and your clients as you connect with your vision, your mission, and your passion and become your authentic Self.  We like to say “I used to be different, now I am the same.”

As you and your clients go deep within through inner work, classroom interaction, coaching and POD work* the work alters the being that you are and enables you to truly “make the difference” in the life of another that you have always wanted to do.

You don’t merely learn how to “do” coaching, you “be” come a coach.

Skill Sets:

You not only learn communication skills, you learn “deep listening” skills, being able to read body language.

Our unique “mindfulness approach enables you to be more present and you will learn how to influence and bond with your client even more through “loving presence”   techniques (looking for what you appreciate in another).

Our unique application of the Law of Attraction throughout the entire course creates a sense of safety and enables you and others to “fully express” one’s unique individuality.

We focus on “the world of the Body” whereby you learn “hands on” techniques to facilitator emotional release and healing.

Our focus on loving yourself and unconditional acceptance creates a feeling of “flow and glow” inside you and your clients.

Approach:

All classes are “in person” and highly interactive.  We tend to attract a high caliber student body and the discussions generate a creative constructive learning environment.

An extensive class manual comes with both level one and two allowing for full participation and minimal note taking.  While the educational materials are extensive (left brain approach), we also emphasize intuitive and creative learning skills (right brain approach).

Rather than learn a “cookie cutter” coaching technique we teach you the skill sets and encourage and assist you to develop your unique style of coaching based on your unique gift.

Uniquely designed level two business development classes assisting you to customize your business around your passion, your life purpose.    We are in the business of solopreneurship development and training entrepreneurs to fashion your vocation around your avocation.  Knowing what it takes to maintain an entrepreurial business we develop the whole person to ensure self confidence, persistence, empowerment, of commitment.

Our unique experiential approach utilizes exercises, visualizations, coaching demonstrations, de-briefs and supervised coaching sessions allowing you to coach and be coached every weekend.

Support:

Classes are limited to 12-14 students and we utilize numerous assistants giving you maximum support and an ideal learning and bonding/healing environment.

We employ an auxiliary teaching faculty, all specialists in their area of expertise to come in to deepen and diversify your learning experience.

You will form a group of 3-4 students we call P.O.D.’s (Personal Ongoing Development groups).  You will meet with your supervised POD every week via phone or in person meetings to enhance your personal development, bond, coach each other, deepen your understanding and integration of the course material and give you ongoing support in between monthly sessions.

You will have access to one of our recent graduates who will act as mentors and coaches supporting you in any way they can (which is numerous).  You have a coach.

Lastly, we have created an intentional community.  That is to say the graduates share an aligned vision for this work getting out into the world.  You become part of this community of support upon graduation and it is a co-operative mutual support system.  Graduates are invited to assist in workshops, trainings, open houses, etc., as well as community organized social events.  We not only train you we offer ongoing support through our unique ongoing graduate support system, creating opportunities to enroll coaching clients through expos and other events.

In Conclusion…
